Logs

I like to track things.

Doing that is easy in today digitised world. Unfortunately, using the platforms and services du jour usually means giving up control of your data. What your data can be used for and by how. But also how you can use your own data.

I prefer to be in charge of what I do with my own data.

That's why I usually track things in simple and portable ways. CSV files or simple spreadsheets. At the cost of some convenience offered by commercial platforms and services, it gives me great flexibility. I can slice, dice and analyse my data as I please, and I can present it wherever and however I want.

When I want to share some of my data, I use this website. As of now, there are two sections that are generated based on what I'm tracking in my many spreadsheets.

Reading log

My reading log shows the books I'm reading and every book I've read since 2012. It is updated daily.

Want to know more about how I put it together? I wrote a post called Replacing Goodreads the Indieweb way in which I share all the details.

Workout log

As anyone who likes to work out well knows, you have to track your sessions to get the benefits of a training session. My workout log, then, can be said to be an important part of my fitness routine ;)
