Silver Macbooks are the most gorgeous Macbooks
In a meeting today I came across a fairly old Macbook Pro in the "proper" light silver grey colourway. For some reason, you don't see much of them these days.
They are the most visually appealing Macbooks by far, in my opinion. Much nicer than the "space gray" and "midnight" you see all over these days.
Also, I might be imagining this, but it seems to me that the silver they make today is not quite the same as the one they used to make. Today's silver looks and feels smoother, whereas there used to be a bit of grain to the finish?
This note wouldn't be complete without a picture. So here's a shot of my "typewriter" Macbook Air 11" from 2011 on top — which is in proper silver — and my daily laptop, a Macbook Air M2 from 2022 in "space gray" on the bottom:
That the Apple icon lights up on the old machine is, of course, another point in its favour.
