Therefore, I really appreciated the above comment as it made me think about why they work that way. This blog post is my attempt to describe why it makes sense for Hugo to generate the whole site from scratch even though only a single word has changed.

Clear and concise post from Henrik on why SSGs regenerate the entire site, and, more broadly, why using simple and known solutions is a sensible approach in computer design.

My mental model is slightly shifting to accept this approach. It still feels wasteful but I'm coming around to the fact that knowing what needs to be updated might demand more resources in the long run.
