Nextcloud legacy client for Mac OS
My old Macbook Pro "home server" is stuck on Mac OS Catalina (10.15) because Apple stopped supporting long ago. Running third party software is always touch and go when you're stuck on an old operating system like this.
The legacy version for Mac OS 10.10+ offered from the official Nextcloud download page has been working just fine. Until I upgraded my Nextcloud install today.
With dread I checked the error message, and it was:
This version of the client is unsupported. Upgrade to version 2.7.0 or later.
Well, shucks!
What now? Luckily, a bit of searching led me to this thread on the Nextcloud support forums. Although it raised another issue, it confirmed that version 3.10 of the Mac OS client works on Catalina. And this post even contained a direct download link to that particular version.
So I downloaded this version, updated and everything is working fine again. Great to have that problem delayed indefinitely again.
I run my static site generator on my home server. I use Nextcloud to feed it the files and trigger site generation, so the fact that you're reading this is the proof in the pudding that everything is working again.
