It's August and Blaugust
July came and went and now August is here. Which means Blaugust is underway!
What is Blaugust? Well, I'll just share an excerpt from the initial announcement:
Blaugust is a month-long event that takes place each August which focuses on blogging primarily and has started to include other forms of serialized content over the last several years. The goal is to stoke the fires of creativity and allow bloggers and other content creators to mingle in a shared community while pushing each other to post more regularly. Above all the goal of Blaugust has always been to prove to folks that they can in fact sit down every day and create something fresh and then share it with the world.
As I mentioned in a note a while back, I plan to participate this year.
One of the reasons I end up posting less often than I'd like here is that I set the bar too high for what I want to post. Participating in a challenge like this is a great way to combat such tendencies.
Although the original challenge was to post every day of the month, there are several tiers of participation this time around. I doubt I'll be able to post every day. But, hey, I'll give it a shot. I've already got a few rough drafts lined up. Hopefully that'll help me gain some momentum and get off to a good start.
If you're reading this and you have a blog, I hope you'll considering taking part. If you do, I'd be delighted to hear from you. Use the email link below to get in touch. There's also a thread about the challenge over at the 32-Bit Cafe forums where I'll be interacting with some of the other participants.
For now, I'm off to browse through the list of blogs that have joined the challenge. It's always inspiring to see how everyone else is approaching like this.
