Disconnecting from Amazon
After reading that one post which led me the rabbit hole and led me to decided to disassociate from the Amazon ecosystem, I've been hard at work rebuilding my library of ebooks with DRM free copies. It had been a while since I used Calibre, but it's been nice to get reacquainted.
Today I jailbroke an old Kindle Touch to see if KOReader is worth the hassle. It's nice and all, but I think my Paperwhite will remain standard issue in airplane mode for the foreseeable future. It's not that much of a hassle to connect it to my Mac every once in a while to load new books.
There is, of course, that nagging feeling prompted by my conspiracy theorist genes that, even in airplane mode and without a WiFi-connection, the Kindle is still phoning home to let the mothership know what's going on. Maybe I'll reconsider KOReader after all...
