Manton and Micro.blog
I’m a big fan of Manton.
The way he’s balancing building Micro.blog in public and being an actual person, opinions and all, on his personal blog is an example to follow.
Looking for a way to take ownership of your online presence that makes it easy to get started and doesn’t go out of its way to lock you in? Give Micro.blog a go.
(All that said, I think they have a brand/positioning issue that’s not helping them gain the traction they deserve.)
A good future for the web is one where it is made up of a diaspora of services like Micro.blog that compete on a somewhat even keel. Services that are interoperable. Services that make it easy for you to pick up your online identity to join, or leave, as you please.
