Migration complete!

I finally got around to moving Run161 over to my OpenBSD Virtual Machine. After dropping Wordpress for my personal site a couple of months back, I moved it to a VM with OpenBSD.amsterdam.

Run161 was still powered by Wordpress on a Cloudways VPS.

Been thinking since about how to move it over. I didn't want to bog down my OpenBSD VM with server-side processing, so server-side Wordpress was off the table. Gave LocalWP a go, with a view to running Wordpress locally and use Simply Static to export it as a static site and sync it to my VM. Unfortunately, LocalWP failed when I tried to import.

Seeing as I didn't want to spend any more time fussing around with it, I went with the simplest option: Used Simply Static to do a full static export of the site. I then set up the site on my VM, which was easier than I thought it'd be, and dumped the static files in the corresponding htdocs sub-directory and updated the domain A-record with my domain registrar.

And voila!

Run161 is now being served as a static site from my virtual machine with OpenBSD.amsterdam. And I finally got to delete my Cloudways account and save a whopping $11 USD per month or some such. I wonder what I'll do with it all!

If I ever decide to revive the site, I will have to do the great undertaking of rebuilding it in my static site generator. Or find some other solution. But, as it stands, it's merely an archive and I don't have any plans of updating it again in the future. (And no, I won't sell it. I don't care what your offer is!)
