Faster horses are pretty great, actually
Rakhim in But what if I really want a faster horse?:
Spotify in 2015 was also a super fast horse. It was like my iTunes library, but with millions more tracks. Getting new music became faster, but it didn’t change the nature of my relationship with music.
Sticking with music as the theme of the day, it is almost painful seeing those Spotify screenshots from ten years ago. It was such a great piece of software. Worked well for managing your library and combining it with their extended catalogue.
And look at it now.
Sometimes you really do just want a faster horse. Which, incidentally, is why I now use Nextcloud and the Nextcloud Music add on to manage my music library and make it available wherever I want. And my music player of choice, Amperfy, is delightfully minimalistic in its approach. It does one thing: Display and play my music library. And it does it well.
