End of the week report
I’ve been working (at work, the “normal” job that I have) more or less the entire weekend, but I’ve still managed to get a good deal of work done on the Bloggst project. I decided that the site needed some cross-user interaction and networking features, and I have managed to implement these in a way that pleases me for the time being. Originally I had planned to work on these features after the release of the site, as they aren’t the main focus of the site, but I figured some basic features down this lane wouldn’t hurt.
I have at least a thousand ideas on how to expand this area in the future, but I am definately leaving those out until the site gets an established userbase, because like I already said, (social) networking (in the MySpace fashion, at least) is not the main focus of the site. Some of the features I have planned for the future though are most definately out of my own personal development possibilities, so I probably have to bring in external help for that once the time comes.
I have also successfully implemented a tags system for the site, and this definately makes me happy. The concept of tags is one of the better things that has come from the whole Web 2.0 revolution (not sure why I haven’t implemented it to my blog yet), and these days I don’t see how I could ever live without them. They make it easy to organize stuff. Or they can really create a big mess, if they aren’t used right.
Anyways, I apologize for this post. It’s almost 4:30 AM, and I should have been asleep hours ago, but I just wanted to let all of you know that I’ve made good progress, and that we’re definately in line for the March 1st release date. Tomorrow I’ll see about setting up a pre-opening e-mail list, and I’m also open for some ‘beta testers’ should anybody be interested in checking out the site for me with the purpose of giving me feedback on what can/needs to be improved pre-launch. If you’re interested drop a line in the comments (use a valid e-mail), and I’ll get back to you!
